This bill streamlines appeals of adverse local land use decisions in violation of the Housing Accountability Act (HAA) by creating a state-level body, the Housing Accountability Committee. The Committee would have the authority to overturn project denials or conditions of approval that are not consistent with the HAA. This bill will provide a quicker, less expensive, less confrontational, and more consistent alternative to enforcing the HAA in court. It will be heard in the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee on April 15th.
