LA Voters Defeat Measure EE

LACBOR stood alongside the majority of voters in the defeat of Measure EE on Tuesday (6/4/19).  Sharing the concerns of BizFed and many of Los Angels County REALTOR Associations, the parcel tax that Measure EE would have imposed was not the solution to LAUSD’s problems of bureaucracy and money management.

Measure EE would have imposed a levy of 16 cents per square foot of indoor space on a property, excluding parking areas, and raised an estimated $500 million annually over its 12-year term for the district.  Adding a parcel tax to the already expensive residential and commercial real estate in Los Angeles was seen as risky at best in fixing the educational climate at the LAUSD.

Voters were apparently not at all swayed by LAUSD’s commercial ads that aired over the past several weeks.  Many claiming the ads were blatantly misleading. LACBOR was proud to be a part of a larger business community throughout LA who stood against Measure EE and thank all who took their time to vote.
